Rolla Releases White Paper for Unmanned Ship Application Development Program

Rolls-Royce introduced the "Advanced Unmanned Ship Application Development Program" (AAWA) led by the "2016 Unmanned Ship Technology Seminar" held in Amsterdam recently and released the AAWA project white paper. Describes how the project will realize the vision of a remote and unmanned ship.

Oskar Levander, vice president of ship business innovation at Rolls-Royce, said in a seminar: "This is about to happen. It will not happen, but when it will happen. The technology needed to achieve remote control and unmanned ships." The AAWA project is being tested in Finland for a range of sensor arrays under different operational and climatic conditions, and has created a simulated unmanned ship control system (product library supply) that can behave on the overall communication system. Conduct research. We will see the commercial application of remote-controlled vessels before the end of this decade."

The AAWA white paper details the safety factors, legal and regulatory issues that the project has so far considered for the commercial application of unmanned vessels, the design and operation of remote-controlled vessels, and the establishment of supply networks for commercial products in the short to medium term. And the status quo.

The white paper draws on the expertise of academic researchers from major Finnish universities and colleges such as Tampere University of Technology, VTT Finnish Technical Research Center, Ober University, Aalto University and Turku University. Leading companies in the marine industry cluster, including Rolls-Royce, Brighthouse NAPA, Deltamarin, DNV GL and Inmarsat, also provided industry knowledge for the project.

The project has also received strong support from ship owners and operators. Currently, the sensor array test is being carried out on the 65-meter-long ferry Stella, operated by the Finnish shipping company between Colpo and Houtsche. ESL Shipping is helping to study the impact of remote and unmanned vessels on short-haul ocean freight.

Forged Nipple

Forged nipple

Pipe nipple is used to connect two pieces of pipeline. There are reducing nipple and threaded short nipple. Some people call reducing nipple as swage nipple. Similar to pipe reducer, the type of swage nipple is concentric swage nipple and eccentric swage nipple. Manufacture of reducing nipple is MSS SP-95.

Threaded nipple is one kind of forged NPT fittings, if only one end is threaded, it is single end threaded nipple. Both ends are threaded, it is double end threaded nipple.
