The sewage pump impeller is generally composed of a hub, a blade and a cover plate. The cover of the impeller is divided into a front cover and a rear cover. The cover on the inlet side of the impeller is called the front cover, and the cover on the other side is called the rear cover.

Closed impeller

Both sides of the impeller are covered with 4 to 6 blades between the covers. When the blade bending direction is opposite to the rotation direction of the impeller, it is called a shield-bend blade. The blades of the general impeller are backward curved blades. This closed impeller is more efficient and the most widely used.

Open impeller

There are no cover plates on both sides of the impeller, and the blades are connected to the hub through ribs. The impeller has a simple structure and is easy to manufacture but has low efficiency, and is suitable for conveying liquids containing more solid suspensions or fibers.
