A spokesman for the Tona Wanda plant stated that the plant currently has approximately 1,100 hourly and full-time employees, and it expects that the plant will increase by 500 to 600 new employees by next year.
General Motors announced in 2010 that it will invest $400 million in the Tona Wanda plant. The addition of new employees is part of the investment plan. The plant will be the only factory that will produce the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette model V8.
