Mitsui Shipbuilding Inc. increases production of marine engines in China

This is because large-scale orders for super-large container ships have been obtained from Chinese shipyards, with a total value of about 22 billion yen. Therefore, the original production increase plan was completed in 2014, one year earlier, and its capacity was increased to 3 million horsepower per year.
Mitsui Shipbuilding has a 14% market share in the marine mainframe market, strengthening its supply system to large shipyards in China and trying to expand its business. The company that increased production this time is Mitsui Shipbuilding's joint venture company from 34% - Shanghai Zhongchuan Mitsui Shipbuilding Diesel Co., Ltd. (CMD), originally planned to invest 2 billion to 3 billion yen, and by 2015, increase its production capacity. Up to 2.6 times 3 million horsepower. In August, orders for 25 large container ships were obtained from the Chinese shipyard, and other negotiations were conducted. Therefore, it was decided to complete the production increase project ahead of schedule. CMD mainly produces super large mainframes with cylinder diameters of 90 and 98 cm and a capacity of 100,000 horsepower.
